VOLUNTEER
Okotoks BMX Club is a 100% volunteer run organization that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle through BMX racing. Our club welcomes riders of all ages, from 4 to 94 years old, who are interested in learning and competing in BMX races. Our mission is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for riders to develop their skills, make friends, and have fun!

Volunteering
Our club could not exist year after year without relying on the support of our members. There are no paid positions or hired personnel at Okotoks BMX. Every aspect of the track maintenance and the successful execution of our racing events are 100% organized and managed through the volunteer efforts of our Board of Directors and the Members of the club.
The contributions of our volunteers and participants are essential in maintaining our BMX community and keeping things running smoothly throughout the season.
Each family must fulfill the following Volunteer Requirements throughout the season:
-
20 Regular Volunteer Hours
-
Includes (but not limited to) practice nights (Monday, Tuesday) and race nights (Thursday), mid-May through mid-September.
-
-
1 Worker Bee
-
Work bees will be held on Saturdays and consist of clean up, track and facility maintenance, groundskeeping, etc. We will have a minimum of 3 throughout the season.
-
-
1 Special Event
-
These are special races or events throughout the season, such as Alberta BMX Day, Friday Night Lights. Additional special events may be added over the season.
-
-
2 Provincial Shifts
-
Okotoks BMX is hosting the Alberta BMX Provincial Final September 12 & 13, 2026. Volunteer opportunities will be available the week leading up to the event and over the weekend.
-
Known dates for the work bees, special events and provincials can be found on our club calendar.
If required volunteer hours are not complete by October 31, 2026, families will be charged the Volunteer Bond ($400) via the CCN Registration Platform. Families will be notified of this charge. However, we want to ensure families are successful in achieving the volunteer commitment! Please work with the Volunteer Coordinator (volunteer@okotoksbmx.com) throughout the season to track your hours and find alternative ways to fulfill your hours if you are finding them difficult to fulfill.
Alternatively, families can pay a $400 opt-out fee at registration if they do not wish to volunteer.
Note: If members join after August 1, 2026, hours will be prorated to 10 regular hours, 1 work bee, and 2 provincial shifts.
Did you know…
Volunteer shifts that remain unfilled do not simply disappear; they must be covered to ensure the successful running of events. In such cases these responsibilities fall to a board member, or families who may have already completed their hours. Every volunteer hour is invaluable and contributes tremendously to the smooth running of our events. Your support makes all the difference.
