President

KERRY-ANNE GEORGE

Hi! I’m Kerry-Anne. My family and I have been members of the club for 6 years. I have been on the board of directors for 4 years and am excited to be going into my 2nd year as President.

We joined BMX because it's a sport that the entire family can participate in, and we stayed because of the amazing community that is Okotoks BMX!

What I love about the club is the community and shared emotion it creates. Although winning a moto is an individual feat, there is a real sense of team camaraderie as riders cheer on and congratulate each other as they cross the finish line. We have met so many great people and will treasure the friendships and memories we have made. We have a great board this year, who are dedicated to making sure the kids have the best possible experience for the 2024 season!

I look forward to seeing everyone on their bikes at the track this year!

Vice-President & Coach

DARRYL KOWALCHUK

Hi! I'm Darryl Kowalchuk, Vice President and Assistant Coach for the Okotoks Club. My family first became involved with the Okotoks BMX club in 2018 when we enrolled our son Devin. It wasn’t long before my daughter Charlotte and I were riding in the club as well! I race 20” and have been a coach with the club for 4 years. I was a Director at Large on the Boards for 2 years and this will be my first year as Vice President.

I am very passionate about the sport of BMX and love being a Coach. I love to see the kids progress in their skills and thoroughly enjoy socializing with all of them and their families. The friendships we have made over the years have become like family.

I look forward to another amazing year!

Head Coach

GREG FISHER

I am Greg Fisher, Coaching Coordinator at Okotoks BMX.

My family joined BMX with my oldest son in 2015 and I started Racing in 2017. I began coaching as an assistant coach in 2018.  I am currently in my second year as Coaching Coordinator.

In my time in the sport, I have seen our track get wiped out and forced to move by the town, helped as the new track was built and reassembled by volunteers, and proudly participated when our track hosted two of the most successful provincial races in Alberta with the Grands in 2018 and a Canada Cup in 2022.

I love the sport of BMX because of the community spirit.  The riders and parents support and encourage each other.  Some of my fondest memories are of our riders learning to stand up on a bike for the first time, navigating the start hill successfully, rows of matching Jerseys siting on the bleachers while our riders cheer their friends on at Provincial races and post race fist bumps, lots of fist bumps.

Track Operator

KATY LAYTON

Hi! I’m Katy Layton, Track Operator for Okotoks BMX Club. My family and I have been members of the club since 2017. This will be my 6th year on the board, 4 as Treasurer and coming on my second year as Track Operator.

I have two sons, 10 and 12 that race and love being part of the BMX community. We have met many great people and friends through the sport and made awesome memories.

The Okotoks BMX club has so many dedicated board and club members who work tirelessly to make the club the best it can be.

From the little 4 year olds to the over 50’s, this sport is for everyone. The sense of accomplishment on riders faces when they achieve something is so amazing to see.

I’m excited for the 2024 season and seeing all the riders back on the track!

Coach

SOPHIE GIBBS

My name is Sophie Gibbs I’m 19 years old and have been riding for 13 years now and I have coached the past 4 years! I love coaching as I’ve been able to give back to the BMX community which has provided me with so many of the values I hold today. This past summer my good friend Isabella Bregliano and I started Ignite BMX Coaching and we are looking forward to holding more camps/clinics for the 2024 season.

I’m currently studying kinesiology at Lake Superior State University while also playing university hockey. When I’m home from school I’m always looking forward to getting back on the track and work with so many awesome riders!
